The soft green color with an ashy finish, which looks as though it has been around for ages, is achieved when soda ash is intentionally applied to the hot, finished piecea technique more accurately known as soda firing or soda coating. Due to this process, variations in color and finish will occur from vase to vase and are considered a hallmark of its handcrafted quality.
